Checkmate.fm turns chess games into unique pieces of music. Every move, capture, check, and checkmate become a progressive soundtrack as you play, ultimately creating a one-of-a-kind song.

Each move lights cells on a 16×16 tone matrix — a looping grid sequencer where columns are beats and rows are pitches, with White in teal and Black in orange. The song builds as the game does: captures fire a quick chord, check sounds an alert, checkmate ends on a rising fanfare. Pick an instrument and tempo, and the same game sounds different every time.
